The New Iberia… Emerging Wines from Traditional Countries
The Iberian countries, Spain and Portugal, are home to some of the most expressive wines in the world. Like many countries, we mostly know about the traditional regions such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero and the Douro Valley. While these are rightfully celebrated regions, the excitement and new developments in winegrowing and compelling wines are in regions such as Alentejo, Dao, Bierzo, Jumilla and Valdeorras. Both white and red wines are equally interesting, and delicious. In this class, we will highlight these emerging regions that are becoming more widely known. In addition to strong values, these wines are the perfect combination of intense fruit and tertiary flavors from the unique terroirs.
